Introductions

The introduction gives a background to the study.  It spells out the aims, research questions, and your argument, hypothesis or hunches.  Writing the introduction to your study may be quite a daunting task, especially at the outset, when you are still figuring out your research questions and concepts.  Still, it is a useful exercise which adds clarity to your ideas, helps organise your thoughts, and orientate your critical readers.

Note: It is likely that this introduction will morph over the years and get re-shaped towards the end of your research project.  So do see it as a work in progress thought piece.
